Child safety rules
These rules apply to every Kinfold product, device and partner, and they come before growth. Kinfold earns from centres, providers, payments, optional family extras and devices, never from children’s attention or data.
- Parents are in charge under 13. No child account exists unless a parent creates it, with the parental consent the law requires (in Quebec, for children under 14).
- Teens are private by default. No public profiles, no finding strangers, and location shared only with guardians.
- No private messages between an adult and a child. A parent or a second verified adult is always in the conversation, and it’s logged.
- Every adult who works with children is verified: identity, background check (in Canada, a vulnerable sector check), credentials and references, renewed every year.
- No ads, no selling data, no profiling of children, no engagement tricks: no streaks, endless feeds, public like counts, loot boxes or purchases by children.
- A real trust and safety team: a report button everywhere, review by a person within 24 hours, escalation to child-protection agencies and police, and an independent child-safety advisory board.
- Well-being by design: daily limits, quiet hours, content that ends naturally and sends children outside.
- Families own their data, and teens control their own records at 18.
Reporting a concern
If you’re worried about a child’s safety on Kinfold, use the report button in the app or email [safety@YOUR-DOMAIN]. If a child is in immediate danger, call 911.
