Kinfold help docs

Classroom app for teachers

The classroom app is built so any action takes three taps or fewer and works without Wi-Fi.

Signing in

  • Shared tablet: choose your name and enter your PIN. The tablet locks after 2 minutes idle.
  • Your own phone: sign in once with your work account. Kinfold runs in its own space and never shows your personal number to parents.

The room screen

Your room screen shows every child at a glance: who’s here, who’s napping, who’s due a bottle or diaper change, and allergy badges. The ratio badge at the top updates within seconds of any check-in.

Checking children in and out

  1. Tap the child, then Check in or Check out. Parents can also use the kiosk QR code.
  2. At check-out, Kinfold shows the authorized pickup’s photo. If the person isn’t authorized, you’ll see a blocking alert and the director is notified.

Care logs

  • One child: tap the child, then the log type (meal, bottle, nap, diaper or toileting, mood, activity).
  • Many children at once: tap Select, choose the children, then the log type. Fix a group entry once and it updates for everyone.
  • By voice: tap the microphone and say it naturally, for example “Maya and Leo napped 12:30 to 2.” Kinfold turns it into logs; check and approve them before they save.

Photos and video

Select as many photos as you like, tag the children in them, and keep working; they upload in the background. Photos are private by default and only go to the tagged children’s families. Children whose families opted out of group photos are flagged so you can leave them out.

Observations and portfolios

Add an observation to a child with a note and optional photos, and link it to a learning domain. In Ontario, observations map to “How Does Learning Happen?”; in the US, to your state’s early learning standards.

Incidents and medication

  • Incident report: record what happened, mark the injury on the body diagram, and send it to the family to e-sign in their app. Signed reports are locked.
  • Medication: log the dose, time and the staff witness.

Messages and quiet hours

Message families from the child’s page. When your shift ends, new parent messages go to the office instead of you. Families see your hours and who answers after.

No Wi-Fi?

Keep working. Everything saves on the device and syncs when you’re back online. The app shows how many updates are waiting. Check-out still checks authorized pickups offline.
